Do you think Diabetes is a greater epidemic than heart disease?

i'm aware they're related but not entirely the same. What do you think?
Answer:
Firstly, neither disease is an epidemic...communicable to others. Of the two disease entities, Heart disease is more of a concern as it is more difficult to manage. Diabetes on the other hand is becoming more manageable virtually daily with both injectable and oral medications. The pancreas produces insulin( the cause of diabetes is an imbalance in the amount of insulin produced) but has no direct relation to cardic pathology. Heart Disease has many forms and can range from poor cardiac output to a myocardial infarction so the term is vague. Most patients with diabetes mellitus can have a fairly normal life span, but a cardiac disease can have ominous overtones.
with the obesity problem in the states yes i do..more kids are now found to have diabetes earlier then ever before..people need to teach their kids how to eat halthy or they are condeming them to die

Diabetes is the third leading cause of death in America today.
^ Yes, diabetes seems to be on the rise, it seems more adults and children are getting diabetes, especially type 2. There was a time when type 2 was seen in adults and if children had diabetes they most likely had type 1, unfortunately way to many children now have type 2 and some people have type 3 which is a combination of 1 and 2, I read an article about type 3 about a year ago, sorry I don't remember which medical publication I saw it in.There can be so many compilations when you have diabetes, heart disease is only one of them.
