Does "Meningitis" for a woman affect her pregnancy, does this could be one of the reason for?

neural tube defect like annencephaly. Any doctors pls, need suggestions
Answer:
Meningitis is almost always caused by some external factor, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Quite obviously, if a mother has an ongoing active infection of any of these, it could be disastrous for the baby.As far as anencephaly... it's difficult to really say what causes it. It doesn't seem to run in families much, though a mother who has had one anencephalic child runs a slightly higher risk of having another one. Epilepsy medication and insulin-taking diabetics also have a slightly higher incidence of anencephaly; studies indicate that a slightly higher intake of folic acid can reduce the risk a bit.I know of no study that links meningitis and anencaphaly directly in any way. It is possible that they could be connected. But that cannot be the only cause. So it is unlikely that anyone would be able to say in a particular instance whether that did it or not.Sorry I can't be more conclusive. There's still so much we don't know!

Doe thyroid problems run in families?

My grandmother had thyroid cancer after my father was born and then I was born without a thyroid is there any connection?
Answer:
It can run in the family but it does not mean that you will have thyroid cancer. What you want to do is take your family medical history to your doctor and be tested yearly for irregularites of the thyroid.
What do you mean by born without a thyroid? Do you mean low producing thyroid? Are you on medicine. We can not live without thyroid hormone. I hope you get checked out soon. Good luck to you!
yes

Doctors? Can someone please explain this to me..??

When someone is vaccinated against hepatitis b and they come in contact with it, say they have a blood exposure do the antibodies from the vaccine KILL the virus or do they just control the virus and it stays in your body? And if it stays in the body, could you eventually get it in 20 yrs if the vaccine were to run out?
Answer:
PLEASE talk to a doctor about this! This is about the 20th question you have asked about hepatitis B. Obvisouly you aren't getting good answers or answers you want to hear to your other questions, so talk to a doctor!
When you get a vaccine, it means that the bacteria/virus is introduced to your body so that it can make antibodies to it. If you come into contact with the virus, the body already knows how to make the antibodies from before, so it is able to reproduce them and kill the virus. The vaccine does not run out. What can happen is that the virus mutates, like with the flu, and a new vaccine has to be remade to affect the new strain of the virus.
A vaccine causes your body to make antibodies. The vaccine does not stay in your body to fight exposure. Antibodies are made by a special type of white blood cell. Their are acute phase antibodies to fight a current infection and "memory cells" that function later down the road when you get exposed again--you have immunity--that is what a vaccine does. Antibodies stop you from getting the infection in the first place. However, some vaccines need to be repeated periodically (like every 10 years for tetanus) because the immunity just wears off.
After you have been vaccinated against hepatitis B the virus may enter your body, but your immune system will recognize it and kill it. You will not become infected, you will not become sick, you cannot pass it on and the virus will NOT stay in your body.
Should you have been vaccinated more than ten years ago, it is a good idea to have your antibodies tested to see if you are still protected. You might have to receive a booster shot if your antibodies are too low.

Doctors/pharmacists etc - which is stronger - Betnovate lotion or mometasone lotion?

Both have been prescribed for impetigo in the scalp which cleared up then returned. Antibiotics were prescribed too.Betnovate scalp application (betamethasone valerate 0.1%) prescribed the first time; Mometasone 0.1% scalp lotion prescribed the second time. The doctor (not my usual one and I really wasn't impressed with him) said the mometasone was stronger. The pharmacist said the betnovate was stronger but then relented saying "perhaps I'm wrong" when I told him that the doctor had said the opposite. Was he just trying to be loyal - the pharmacy is linked physically and is part of the doctors' surgery. They didn't have any mometasone in stock and I have to collect it today. Would like to know if I am doing the right thing as I have betnovate already. Don't want to buy a weaker lotion for a problem that is really persistent and has already had three lots of antibiotics thrown at.
Answer:
Mometasone 0.1% is slightly stronger than Betnovate (betamethasone valerate 0.1%).
The confusion probably comes from the fact that betamethasone comes in different forms, and betamethasone dipropionate is much stronger than Mometasone.

Doctors, med students, anyone! "Alien Baby syndrome"?

I have a question on Congenital ichthyosis, harlequin fetus/baby syndrome, or as some people on the internet call "alien baby syndrome". I'm aware of the condition on a small scale. I know it usually causes the baby to be born prematurely and causes horrible pretty much unbelievable deformities. The armor slimy like skin, red or orange eyes, enlarged mouth. What are the root causes of this? How long can the baby survive? What's the longest a baby has survived? Is it possible to treat it if caught in developmental stages of the fetus?
Answer:
The condition itself is genetic, It arises usually due to mutation in the chromosome 17p. It can also be inherited. The mutant allele is recessive (which means that the gene can be carried without the bearer actually exhibiting the symptoms) There are a lot of different cases of gene expression, Harlequin ichthyosis is the most severe form. You've outlined it pretty well above in saying that the baby is born prematurely with 'armour-like' skin, this leads to problems such as respiratory distress, problems with feeding, and systematic infection. Other expressions of the gene are less severe, such as lamellar IchthyosisApparently the child can survive a long time, depending of the severity of the symptoms. The symptoms themselves can be treated with a variety of techniques. Though, as the Condition is genetic, it is practically impossible to cure. That's about as straightforward, and accurately as I can put it. I'm only a simple biology student :p. It just interested me so I read up on it.
Harlequin-type ichthyosis (also harlequin ichthyosis, ichthyosis congenita, or keratosis diffusa fetalis), a skin disease, is the most severe form of congenital ichthyosis, characterized by a thickening of the keratin layer in fetal human skin. In sufferers of the disease, the skin appears as massive, diamond-shaped scales. In addition, the eyes, ears, mouth, and other appendages may be abnormally contracted. The scaly keratin greatly limits the child's movement. Because the skin is cracked where normal skin would fold, it is easily pregnable by bacteria and other contaminants, resulting in serious risk of fatal infection.Sufferers are known as harlequin fetuses, harlequin babies, or harlequins. The harlequin-type designation comes from both the baby's apparent facial expression and the diamond-shape of the scales (resembling the costume of Arlecchino), which are caused by severe hyperkeratosis. The disease can be diagnosed in the womb by way of fetal skin biopsy or by morphologic analysis of amniotic fluid cells obtained by amniocentesis. In addition, doctors can now usually recognize common features of the disease through ultrasound.
Treatment and prognosis
In the past, the disorder was invariably fatal, whether due to dehydration, infection (sepsis), restricted respiration due to the plating, or other related causes. The most common cause of death was systemic infection, and few sufferers survived for more than a few days. However, there have been improvements in care, most notably the drug Isotrex, and some patients have survived into adolescence and, in very rare cases, to adulthood.
Like you said, most babies with this are born early and their life expectancy is unknown. The infant mortality rate is very high. Because the skin barrier is abnormal, infants often die of infection, such as sepsis. They are also at risk of "failure to thrive," not getting enough food/nutrients to keep healthy.
However, survival to age 14 years is reported.
Causes include genetic factors: "Mutations in a gene known as ABCA12 ... in chromosome region 2q35, underlie this disorder."

Doctors to answer?

i had an exposure once and for all in my lifetime with a friend
protected
sore throat after two weeks
ofcourse was tense and got myself tested upto
8 months with elisa nad western blot
all tests were negative
i swear no more such encounters
just wnt to know is there any chance ..
Answer:
Hi there,I'll assume you are referring to possible transmission of HIV. No need to worry. No diagnostic test will ever be 100% reliable, but if you test negative at the appropriate time (i.e., 13 weeks after possible exposure to the virus), you can consider that to be a dependable confirmation that you are HIV negative. There is always the possibility of you picking up some other std considering that condoms do not provide 100% protection. Some stds like syphilis, only require close proximity to an infected persons genitals, anus or mouth for the disease to be transmitted.Cheers.
Yes, it can take YEARS to make its appearance known. You will NEVER be absolutely sure! But over time you be more and more confident.
The probability is very small. if there is anything those should appear on your test result.

Doctors still dont know what it is?

They checked my thyroid, I have trouble breathing and swallowing, usually happens at night. One thing I noticed is my heart rate is really high - usually about 90/min. My blood pressure on the other hand is super low - when I was having a really tough time breathing it was 50/95... The doctors never noted either of those things though. This started when I was about 4 months pregnant and happens 1-2xs/month (son is 18 months old now... ANY IDEAS/theories. They did a pressure test and when it was bad it was 200 when 400 is good or something and a few days later is was 360. they did chest xrays and a further breathing test - test the pressure and then with a steroid and there was no change... Now i was referred to a ear, nose and throat doctor! ANY THEORIES?!?!?
Answer:
your doctor want to find out you have sleep apnea or not.Sleep apnea is a disorder which developed lack of oxygen breath in due to partal airway blockage or some reason stop breath for a while during sleep..Ent referral will take a good look of your throat, nose, pharyngeal and larynx see any abnormalities. You already had pulmonary function test and chest x-ray to find out any lung disease which including of asthma. When you lack of oxygen heart rate will increase and bp will drop.Sure you also need to r/o any heart disease such as cardiac arrhythmia.
This website may be able to solve your question www.webmd.com
Go to a caridologist it sounds like something is going on there still go to your ENT guy but get an appt with a cardiologist. Also know that everyone is entitled to a second opinion and all insurances cover that get a second opinion now!
First of all, your B/P cannot be 50/95. Secondly, a heartrate of 90 is not fast. What pressure are you suggesting was 200? Pulmonary Function Tests? Not enough information to help you. Are you overweight?
When your blood pressure is low and your pulse rate is high, it means the stroke volume of your heart is abnormally low (or your body mistakenly thinks the volume is low). This can happen because of dehydration, heart defects, vascular disease, problems with the carotid sinus, neurological problems, or tumors. So, it might take a little time for doctors to sort out the problem. If this is only happening at night, problems with the carotid sinus seem like a good possibility, especially if you sleep on your side and place pressure on your neck. There is no telling what the problem is, but this might be a good theory to start with. Hypersensitivity of the carotid sinus can cause all of the symptoms you mentioned. Often, if the nerves to carotid sinus are acting up, the problem will also occur with the nerves at the back of your tongue and in your throat.

Doctors sick note?

I have a sick note from the doctor which states refrain from work until 4/6/07, does that mean I go back to work 4/6/07 or 5/6/07?
I am in the UK.
Answer:
-Problem here is the word " until ".Because 4/5/07 is Monday, i think your doctor implies you could go back to work from the begining of week
Means you can start work on the 4th of June.

Doctors please....?

ok i was diagnosed with alopecia universalas. i lost all of my hair three years ago. none of my hair has grown at all throughout those three years. but now i am growing hair. is there any possible reason for this...should i get my hopes up that my hair will grow out..could it possibly come back after my hair grows back in? any help or info is really needed!
Answer:
Alopecia is a unique condition that varies between all patients with the condition.
It can also differ at different times in each individual affected.
I am happy for you to hear that your hair has started to suddenly grow. It is possible that it will continue, but no one, not even a specialist physician, can guarantee you that your hair will continue to grow and stay in.Its mentally stressful ..please be thank full for the hair you are currently growing..I do not want to give you false hope to get your hopes up of it not reoccurring.
Enjoy showing off and styling your real hair..and, if the unfortunate happens..do not get discouraged..you can save the hair you lose and have a beautiful wig made to look exactly your style with your ow natural grown hair. Remember, it is possible to grow again another time, even if it does not work out for you this time.

Doctors please help me.?

I need a kind of help please.
In 2005 I was suffering from tuberculosis one of the most killer disease in the world.
Fortunately, I got treatment, an eight month dose.after treatment I went for check up to have a look whether I recovered Or not, The doctor told me that I was ok/fine but what worries me is I still feel the same symptoms I used to feel when I had not yet started treatment.can I still be suffering from it, I mean didnt I recover?
Answer:
I'm not a doctor but I am a TB nurse.
If your original disease was in your lungs you were most certainly cured of it. If it was in a lymph node then you would require a minimum of 9 months treatment to eradicate it. If it was in your brain/nervous system then a minimum of one years treatment is needed.
You can catch tb more than once. So if you have night sweats, weight loss, lethargy and with or with out a cough it's possible you have caught it again rather that a reoccurance. See you GP for referral to a chest clinic.
There is now a far better way of diagnosis than sputum testing. It's called Quantiferon TB Gold, or T'spot blood testing. Both are almost 100% accurate in people who are not immunocompromised. The chest clinic can do the test for you.
well even though you are recovered but you are not fully recovered yet but maybe you probably just got a bit of a sore throat from it that's all don't worry it will clear up soon.and I'm not a doctor by the way
You should go to your GP and ask him/her.
We can't diagnose you on here unfortunately
TB is a very debilitating and all - consuming disease (hence why it used to be called consumption in the old days) which will take a long time to recover from. Your recovery probably also depends on how much of your body the infection has spread to. You don't say if it was confined to your lungs or spread further. If you have taken your course of medication and the doctor says you are ok, then you should have nothing to worry about. If you are still feeling very ill then ask the doctor to take a sputum/ saliva sample to culture, as this is the only way you can confirm that the infection has definitely gone or not.
if it haven't been long since you recovered from tuberculosis and yet you still feel like before treatment then don't worry give it a time but if it's been since considerably from a long time then i suggest that you see a doctor ...
however i should see a doctor for either ways just to be sure on your health.
i hope i helped
Were you tested for HIV before treatment?? That can delay recovery from TB...
No possible way you could be advised on line whether or not recovery is complete. You would need to consult your doctor again if you are worried.
I agree with "Dr. Frank" and "Minerva". You're nuts to be here looking for a diagnosis. Why would you be asking this question of people who can't possibly run the necessary tests in order to give you a definitive answer?Speak to your doctor STAT and report your symptoms. Let your doctor assess and diagnose you.

Doctors only?

How can I "clean" my stomach?
Answer:
The common at home method is cranberry juice.
GO TO A DOCTOR. THEY DONT WASTE THEIR TIME ON HERE SMARTYpants.
u don't need a doctor to answer this you can just get laxatives that cleans out your stomach, but makes you go to the bathroom a lot, and can dehydrate you so if you take a laxative make sure to keep hydrated and drink a lot of water.
Pick out a good soap, get in the shower, wet stomach, apply soap with towel, hand, or other method, rinse, repeat if necessary. good luck.
there is no reason to clean your stomach

Doctors Only Plz: Is there a cure for Brain Tumor? Plz provide the information...Thanks :(?

Answer:
It is impossible to give a direct answer to your question due the the number of possible types of brain tumour because there are nearly 100 different types of brain tumours. They are generally named after the type of cell they developed from. Most brain tumours develop from the cells that support the nerve cells of the brain. These are called glial cells. A tumour of glial cells is called a glioma. Brain tumours can also be named after the area they are growing in. A tumour of the pituitary gland is called a pituitary adenoma. A tumour developed from the covering of the brain (the meninges) is called a meningioma. Tumours growing from the nerves entering the brain are called neuromas. An acoustic neuroma is a tumour growing on the nerve that controls hearing etc. Overall, for all types of brain tumours at all ages, about 30 out of every 100 people diagnosed (30%) are alive a year later. About 14 out of every 100 diagnosed (14%) live for more than 5 years after diagnosis. Just under 10 out of every 100 people diagnosed live for more than 10 years after diagnosis. The figures are better for younger people. For those under 40, around 1 in 2 of all those diagnosed (50%) live for more than 5 years after their diagnosis. For children the survival rates nearly doubled between the 1960's and the early 90s. Now, 65 out of every 100 children diagnosed with a brain tumour live for more than 5 years after diagnosis. Different types of brain tumours respond differently to treatment. Some respond better to radiotherapy than others, for example. Grade is one of the most important factors for some types of tumours. But for others the appearance of the cells is much less likely to predict how the tumour will respond to treatment. Generally, fast growing tumours are much more likely to come back after treatment than slow growing tumours.
I add a link containing details of this subjecthttp://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/
library/DS/00281.htmlHope this helps
Matador 89
Depends on the tumor, where its located and when it's detected.
Okay, I'm not a doctor, but...Some brain tumors can be reduced in size or completely eliminated by the use of radiation treatments. The side effects may include loss of hair and a "sunburnt" feeling on your scalp and forehead.
The only cure for a brain tumor is complete resection of the tumor (that is surgical removal). But even after complete resection the tumor can come back and many times they do.At best radiation treatments alone (proton beam, cyberknife, etc.) can only shrink the size of the tumor. Many times radiation will only stop or slow down the growth of the tumor by stopping the blood supply. That is not a cure as the tumor remains. Radiation is many times used after partial resection to treat the remaining portion of the tumor. The reason for leaving part of the tumor in the brain is if it is attached to something vital in the brain like the optic nerves, carotid artery, spinal cord, etc..The problem with radiation without surgery is that without removing at least part of the tumor for lab testing, you can never know for certain the type or grade of the tumor.I hope this helps.

Doctors can please answer for my question (emergency)?

my unkle was admited because of he got an sudden heart attack ,doctor was responced as their is 98% negative and 2% possitive to save him.after the operation he was alright but now he cant talk ,his trought was damaged ,(my doubt was the opertion was done in heart but is ther is any poosible to damaged in throught).now the doctors was telling that we can do onemore operation inheart bones ,but the pationt openion was please let me out here i dont need any operation please get me to home,i was scared in operation i think the mistake was done by doctors in operation.now the possithon was critical can you tell me shall we dischare her (or) leave for one more heart operation, what can i do ,your desition?
Answer:
I will recommend that he should undergo the operation as advised by his consultant.
You can have a session regarding the outcome/ prognosis of this operation.
Remember A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE.
He is going to be alright, seems to be a tough fellow.
I can't even understand that question to answer it.
Your spelling makes it a little difficult to understand the problem here. If the Dr says the patient needs another operation to live then the patient needs to have the operation. If there is a language barrier and/or you do not understand what is going on you and other family members have every right to pull the Dr into a conference and ask all of the questions until you understand completely.
In an operation you get intubated and will always make your throat sore afterwords, so that may have been the problem with your Uncle's throat.
I do not understand what you mean by an operation "inheart bones". That just makes zero sense.
If there is no way to get around this, the patient is in critical condition and cannot speak or act on his own behalf medically, then you need to go ahead and give the consent to get the operation done to save his life. And you need to do it soon!
If the doctor saved your UNKLEs life you should be happy for that, and at the end you said her and you said unkle which i assume you mean uncle, if he or she needs another surgery yes he should stay.. stop looking for a way to sue
hun, i didn't understand a lot of what you were talking about but i might be able to help.well i'm only a freshman in high school, and i pretty much have all the training i need to understand your situation.apparently, during the operation, they didn't do it very well and ended up starting problems with the throat.well, i think it should be up to the person who's getting the surgery. if they want to try once more, then let them. if they don't want an operation anymore, then don't let them get it.it's pretty much up to them.
I totally agree with Phyxmilitarymom's answer
I am sorry I am not a doctor, but I have a lot of experience in hospitals and I practice natural medicine.
This situation is difficult to judge. IF you write everything more clearly it would be the wisest thing to do.
The heart operation is serious, and many doctors DO MAKE MISTAKES. Perhaps your uncle can not speak because of having a STROKE. This could happen if after doing the heart operation some thick blood or a blood clot was loosened into the blood stream and went to the brain to cause a clot.
Heart attacks and strokes are caused by unhealthy habits. Eating heavy foods is very bad for this. Beef, pork, alcohol, etc are very bad for high blood pressure.
You should write more clearly with more detail.
There are natural medicines for keeping the heart healthy, there is a holistic approach which I believe in, (going from all angles of food lifestyle herb and medicine. and also there is PRAYER. PRAYER you can do right away.
If you cannot speak or understand proper English, it is very important to get someone you can talk through like a translater. Even if the doctors made the first mistake, the second operation may be necessary.
Cerebral ischemia was due to the heart attack, and the surgery saved him. I do not know what they want to do now, but you should trust them and do what they recommend.

Doctor Wastebasket Diagnosis??

Hi,
Im 17yrs old and have recently been diagnose with Fibromyalgia. I have been sick for the last 5 years. I now do school by correspondence because I am too sick to attend. I have had various tests run on me and some blood tests have been positive. Is Fibromyalgia a recognised condition and what exactly is it??Have you had a "wastebasket" diagnosis? Thanks :)
Answer:
Fibromyalgia -I hope this patients information site will professionally answer most of your questions. Good Luck! and Get Better soon!Fibromyalgia (National Library of Medicine)

What Is Fibromyalgia? (National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases)

Fibromyalgia is very real. You need to see a doctor of rheumatology for a proper diagnosis. The pain of fibromyalgia occurs in areas where the muscles attach to bone or ligaments and is similar to the pain of arthritis. The joints themselves are not affected, however, so they are not deformed nor do they deteriorate as they may in arthritic conditions. The pain typically originates in one area, usually the neck and shoulders, and then radiates out. Most patients report feeling some pain all the time; and many describe it as "exhausting." The pain can vary, depending on the time of day, weather changes, physical activity, and the presence of stressful situations; it has been described as stiffness, burning, stabbing, sudden, radiating, and aching. The pain is often more intense after disturbed sleep. The other major complaint is fatigue, which some patients report as being more debilitating than the pain. Fatigue and sleep disturbances are, in fact, almost universal in patients with fibromyalgia, due to lack of serotonin, and if these symptoms are not present, then some experts believe that physicians should seek a diagnosis other than fibromyalgia. Up to a third of patients experience depression, and disturbances in mood and concentration are very common. Fibromyalgia patients are also prone to tension or migraine headaches. Other symptoms include dizziness, tingling or numbness in the hands and feet, and gastrointestinal problems, including irritable bowel syndrome with gas and alternating diarrhea and constipation. Some patients complain of urinary frequency caused by bladder spasms. Women may have painful menstrual periods.
First off you doctor shouldn't have told you what you have with out giving you any information about the disease. It is a very real aliment!!I have listed a few links below - try to get as much information (proper info) that can help you deal with this.As well ask the doctor for some meds to help you with the pain!
Hi,
Sorry to hear what you are going through. My middle daughter who is 16 was diagnosed with the same about two years ago. She misses her fair share of days of school but has been plugging along. It is a recognized condition and a frustrating one at that. It is not fatal and there is no cure. You need to have a team of good doctors who are sympathetic to your situation. You need to pay attention to your body and know your limits but do not become priosoner to it. You can live a normal life. You have been delt a life change and will have that happen many more times in your life, you are young.
Good luck and God bless. What Is It?Fibromyalgia (fye-bro-my-AL-gee-ah) is an arthritis-related condition that is characterized by generalized muscular pain and fatigue. The term "fibromyalgia" means pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons. This condition is referred to as a "syndrome" because it's a set of signs and symptoms that occur together.Fibromyalgia is especially confusing and often misunderstood condition. Because its symptoms are quite common and laboratory tests are generally normal, people with fibromyalgia were once told that their condition was "all in their head." However, medical studies have proven that fibromyalgia does indeed exist, and it is estimated to affect about 2 percent of the U.S. population today. In 1990, the American College of Rheumatology, the official body of doctors who treat arthritis and related conditions, finally legitimized fibromyalgia in the medical community by presenting its criteria for diagnosing it. It is diagnosed when the you display the following symptoms:A history of widespread pain (pain on both sides of the body and above and below the waist) that is present for at least three monthsPain in at least 11 of 18 tender-point sites.
A dr will look for the symptoms and trigger points I believe will be evaluated ~ It is a recognized condition ~ and can be treated ~ I know its very painful . There may be some underlying condition that has not SHOWN UP ~ Have you ever had lyme disease that you know of? ~ You dont have a wastbasket diagnosis yet ~ Many many many people have fibromyalgia ~

Doctor says I have Bronchia asthma!?

Still, I am not sure. What do you think? Well they always ask me if i am coughing a lot when it comes on. I never cough, as a matter of fact, I wish I could cough, I just cant cough for nothing.
I am sensitive to pollens, I never used to be, to pollens and weather changes. Albuterol works sometimes not always. When I shoot albuterol, then I feel breaking of the wall and wheezing, then I am able to cough it up somewhat to clear the brochioles. There is something definatley wrong with my breathing. It is like when it comes on, the clogging or mucus is cement hard, with no wheezing, just shortness of breath, until i blow albuterol, then it breaks it up a bit. I have no coughing whatsoever though. I just do not want to be treated for something i may not have, what do you think, could it be something else? It feels as if something is stuck right above my or around the xyphoid process around my upper stomach. Who know. Help is appreciated!
Answer:
You have asthma! Sounds exactly like mine. Keep your albuterol inhaler but don't take that Advair. Advair is a
dangerous drug. I almost never cough or wheeze with my asthma. I call it tight, when I am tight, I use my inhaler, then I get a kind of throat clearing after that. Then all is fine for awhile.
Sounds like it to me. I had asthma and have for many yrs, sometimes mine feels the exact same way u described. And no albuterol doesnt work for neone ask for a diff. script
If your doctor says you have bronchial asthma I would tend to believe him/her. If you are not satisfied with the diagnosis seek a second opinion, from a doctor, not YA. Do not mess with bronchial asthma. It killed my wife of 36 years 18 months ago.
Get a second opinion and diagnosis from a Pulmonary specialist. He/she would test you and you would know for certain if you had Asthma.

Doctor or Nurse please answer fast what is pain in chest, kinda pushing down, but not crushing, esophagus hurt

When I dring or eat anything for the last 3 days, it burns my esophagus bad, especially about mid way down !! please
answer fast ,Thank you
Answer:
There's a great new invention called the telephone. Just about all Drs. and clinics are connected to it.
you're probably suffering from acid reflux, which can lead to ulcers.see a doctor, i might be wrong
Sounds to me like acid reflux. (GERD) You can clear this up fast by buying a bottle of MAALOX and taking a few chugs. Then stay away from acidic or greasy food. For longer term protection, you might consider getting a prescription but those pills are expensive. You can also buy 12hr relief pills
like Zantac; Stay away from TUMS and ROLAIDS as they just exacerbate the problem in the long run.You can go over these pages and see for yourself.Causes of Esophagus symptoms and Heart symptoms
http://symptoms.wrongdiagnosis.com/cosym...You could also be developing a hernia.
http://wrongdiagnosis.com/h/hiatal_herni...In any case, you should have the doctor diagnose the condition before it gets out of hand.
Very likely you have a hiatal hernia...a looping of the esophagus above the diaphragm. Try any of the OTC antacids...Gelusil, Amphojel, even Tums may help. the looping allows gastric acid to accumulate and causes the burning pain. There are several prescription medications availalbe but try the simple ones first.an exact diagnosis will require a barium swallow or an endoscopic exam...both are a bit expensive. Usually the problem can be treated but in a few cases, it might require surgery.

Doctor opinion only please, heart problem genetic?

My husband's father %26 his fathers 2 siblings all had abdominal aortic aneurysms(sp?). My husband's father was 63, his aunt is about 78; his uncle was about 72 when diagnosed. My husband had a stomach ultrasound approximately 4 years ago. There were no signs of an abdominal aortic aneursym. His mother and her side of the family have no abdominal or any kind of aneurysms. What are my husband's chances of getting this?
Answer:
Please post your question at this website as well, so that experts can answer your question in a timely manner:http://www.clinicalanswers.nhs.uk/index.All family members (Siblings) are to be screened out.
Father's side is dominant, 50% or 100%Mother's side seems 0%. His chances of having it seem 1 in 4 (25%) or 1 in 2 (50%) at worst. He can improve his odds by doing things to keep his blood pressure down, not doing heavy lifting which temporarily pushes up the blood pressure, and stretch a weak part of the blood vessel.. Higher blood pressure can aggravate it. He needs a sedate, mellow life style to improve his longevity. We all do.He should also eat a heart healthy diet, since that diet is good for all blood vessels. My father had an AAA, too, but did not die from it. His uncle died from one at about 77. At 54, I do not show any signs of an aneurysm there.
AAA's are not inherited in a "Mendelian" fashion, meaning you can't state as the above poster did - 50% or 100%. AAAs have multifactorial inheritance, which the above poster correctly alluded to in modifying lifestyle. The biggies that your husband can do to decrease his chances are:
- don't smoke!
- keep his cholesterol LOW (LDL%26lt;100) do this with dietary modification and medication if necessary
- continue routine surveillance with abdominal ultrasound at the interval recommended by his physician
- report any symptoms of abdominal pain or of a pulsating mass in the abdomen.
- be on the look out for other vascular problems, such as poor circulation in his legs (causing pain when walking - "claudication")Truth is - only time will tell. We don't have a crystal ball - so have him live a healthy life %26 just be on the lookout for it.

Doc Said i Have A Cyst in my Brain!! Need Help?

this is kinda long so bear with me. i have been having headaches since i was a teenager and recently it started getting worse. i was loosing coordination and had this pain in my left eye like someone punched me all the time. The headaches got so bad i couldnt stand it, so i went to the E.R and had a Ct scan done and the doc told me i have a 2cm cyst in the center of my brain. So he scheduled an appt with a neurologist and an eye doc. well the headaches have been getting worse and my appt is still 3 weeks away but everywhere i go for help they act like i'm a drug addict looking to get high and don't want to give me anything strong enough to help (Naproxen) So the question is how do i tell the doc i need something stronger until my appt without looking like an addict. Also the only thing that i've had help me is some painkillers that my father gives me they are hydrocodone 5/500 should i tell my doc this??
Answer:
Of course you should go to your doctor. I'm sure he won't think you're an addict - he will be aware of your condition.
Yes, tell him about the tablets your father gave you, he may be able to prescribe something similar.
Good luck.
You should tell your doctor what painkillers you are having, yes. One way that you can tell your doctor is to explain how bad these headaches are, and go into depth to really describe them. Usually doctors will listen if you do this, complain enough. But make sure to tell him that it would help to use a stronger painkiller. Don't mention about drug addiction, just tell him this.
Go back to the ER and say " look guys you were the ones that did the correct diagnosis and I did my part and made the appointments you recommended - but I got 3 weeks to wait for the appointments and the pain is killing me. Now either give me something strong enough to touch neurological pain or send me to someone who will see me today."
first and foremost/ DO NOT take meds that r someone elses/ and they were not prescribred for u/call your dr NOW /and tell him it is getting worse/good luck/also call the other appointments and inform them/

Do yu haveworms in you?

Answer:
I am not sure but I have heard we have microscopic "worms" We can get sick and get worms. They may come out when you go to the bathroom. If you see any and/or have been sick you need to go to the Dr.
tape worms
Only gummy ones
WHY ARE YOU GOIN FISHIN
i think so..
I hope not
haha
no
me and my friend were talking about if we had worms
that was random
they are my friends. my pharmacist tells me to take pills to kill them but that would be murder.
Worms are usually happen to infants. Yes, they are really worms. Big wet hot piles of meal worms. They are parasites. Also there is the tapeworm. It is also a parasite and can grow up to 120 feet in one's bowls.
Nah I wash on a daily basis.
rbake... If you've seen one in your feces (i dont mean to upset you but.) it means there are more.
more, in you, right now!Its ok! dont panic, just go see your pharmacist, its pretty common
It is said if all animal and plant life on earth vanished in an instant there would be outlines of all species in nematode worms. These days however only a small percentage of people in the developed world have worms, this is due to clean water and flush toilets. We also treat most of our pets, thus keeping them worm free.I do see perhaps 20-30 people a year with worms, and I suppose triple that may have them without knowing it, at a guess that might be 1% of the population at any one time.
Like dogs and cats humans can also suffer from worms, there are a variety of types:Pin worm
Thread worm
Tape worm
Round wormLuckily all of which are easily to get rid of. Children are more at risk but adults can also be infected via their pets and not washing your hands etc etc.Even biting your nails can cause infection a some eggs can be located under the nails.

Do your eyes hurt when you get a migraine?

i suffer with migraines and sometimes my eyes hurt alot-does anyone else get this??
Answer:
yes its normal, the only type of headache i have are migraines. usually i am really sensitive to lights and sounds, i usually just try to listen to some quiet relaxing music in a dark room, mainly just so i can fall asleep. i also make a hot cup of chamomile or green tea to calm me. the tea usually does it for me though.
yes they do
Sometimes..it's hard to explain, but it like the top part of my eye in the back that hurts.
sometimes, usually i get a visual blur thing so i can't see out of one eye for a while and i'm really sensitive to light. bright light will hurt my eyes.
Oh yes, and they become very sensitive to light. The only way to cope with it is to lie down in a dark room.I feel lousy for days after one though.
Yes, and the only thing that seems to help is to lie in a dark, cool room. I get it right behind my right eye, and it is miserable!
Oh, yes! I just want to close my eyes and lay down. I also get nausea and sensitivity to light %26 sound. Only Excedrin helps and even that not always. I have gone to bed with a migraine and woken up in the morning and still have a headache. good luck to you. migraines really suck!

Do your allergies make summer feel like a nightmare?

I hate summer because of this . . .between the sneezing, itchy eyes and HIVES. . .I cannot enjoy it. Next to the heat, it makes summer one of the most dreaded seasons. Does anyone else feel this way? How do you cope?
Answer:
I KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL! i have so many summer time allergies that i cannot be outdoors very long at a time. i break out with large hives, my sinuses are killing me, and the smell of pollen makes me cough so hard, i choke. the hives makes my throat, mouth, and every part of my body look like its deformed. no fun at all. then comes fall, and the same thing again. I developed a new allergy; mildew, and moss on the ground.
YES !try benadryl it helps me =)
YES. I totally feel your pain. I hate summer, I love fall. I cope with it by playing sports at indoor sports centers, staying inside, keeping cool, I also get out of doing things I don't want to when they're outside. i take medicine and stay away from things i'm allergic to.

Do you want one e-book on simple home made medicines?

Hello friends,
I have the link of one e-book on simple home made medicines for your diseases and complaints.
Interested person may contact me by sending emails
bye
Answer:
You are not supposed to use this website for advertisements.
no. because simply put, a person could make themselves a baloney sandwhich and do more positive things to their body.natural cures do not cure. they are also not without side effects. i know more harmed by natural treatments than that of treatments people base their fear on.good luck trying to sell something not worth a dime!

Do you treat others how they treat you?

Answer:
I try to treat people well. You don't have to like everybody, but you should treat people with dignity, and some degree of respect.
I try to treat everyone equally well. I do not like to be treated bad, so I try not to treat others bad.
It depends, on how or what they say or how they treat you. If they treat you nasty and mean, then do not treat them like that. Treat them like you have some home training. (Treat them with courtesy and respect) and if they don't return in the matter you treated them then, just go about your business and find somebody else to hang with that's more respectful. But if they treat you like you are the King or Queen of the world the, you treat them like that in return

Do you think world governments are secretly trying to de-populate the earth?

by making up diseases like bird flu, mad cow disease, AIDS, SARS etc.
Answer:
If so, they are really failing to do a good job because the population is still growing. If you want a government reducing population, look to China with extreme birth control.
What did you think that nature is really passive and wonderful and once we wipe out the old diseases (polio, small pox, measles) there wouldn't be any more? Remember that it is likely that most of the flu versions came out of animal diseases and crossed over.
No, these are not the product of man( directly) sars and bird flu are back due to the climate change(changed by man), AIDS was made by mistake from a polio vaccine in the early 50's and mutated to what we know today as HIV.I think there should be a population control though, with medicine at its pinnacle and younger people procreating, we are getting ourselves in a tight spot.

Do you think there is a relation between the birth of cancer and the thermodynamic of our body?

My theory is that a person gets cancer because their body doesn't produce enough heat, i think there is a relation between the weight of your body and a quantity of heat that the body has to produced . If this relation is not respected you developed cancer. All in all when you don't spend energy that you should do, that you don't make enough sport that your body demands you get tumor, cancer .
Take the example of Lance amstrong riding 7times at the tour de France has made his body producing much heat and i suppose destroying his cancerous cell .
Answer:
That's not much backing evidence. The fact is genetic mutations are the heart of cancer genesis. Mutations can occur in cells regardless of the temperature. Mutagens occur naturally like tobacco and artificially with chemicals. Radiation and viruses are other sources of genetic mutations which may cause cancer. There is cancer in every race and species on Earth.
No.
What a load of Piffle. There have been many very athletic people who have had cancer, so I am afraid your theory cannot be correct.
Look at the Jockey Bob Champion of the film "Champions" fame also.
I too have had cancer, and before, and up to that time I was an extremely active and athletic person, who used to do ski-ing, cross country horse events, swimming, tennis. No I am sorry you will have to think of another hypothesis
absolute garbage

Do you think there is a consiracy in the government and they have the cure for cancer already...?

Answer:
Yeah, they keep it in bigfoot's cave which is just behind the grassy knoll.
No
Haha i love Matt J's answer but no there is no way that would never happen people in the government get %26 die from cancer to if they had the cure it would be avaible to all of us!
Not in government, no. But it's completely possible that the pharmaceutical industry has a "cure" or at least a VERY effective treatment but is keeping it under wraps. Think about it: an entire industry is built around TREATING cancer. By providing a cure or isolating a genetic cause and resolving that, the industry would bankrupt itself. If government was involved, I suspect it would be that they are complicit from the standpoint of population control/survival of the fittest. But hey, what do I know? I'm just a thinker . . .
Yeah. Its made from Arab oil and it works only if the person believes in 'consiracy' theories.
Of course not.Think about it, if there was a conspiracy to cover up a cure, would people actively involved in the conspiracy still be dying of cancer? People with government and pharmaceutical company jobs die of cancer every day...
There is NO cure for cancer. There are treatments which may bring about indefinite remissions. A cure implies no recurrence. Something no oncologist will gurantee. As for your conspiracy theory, "the government" does NOT know of any cure for cancer. Which government are you even referring to? Research on cancer is being performed in many nations by many very intelligent people. None of those people (for the most part working independently in private and public labs) has come up with a cancer cure or even a good working theory to cure all cancers. Each different cancer is a very complex problem. Like the common cold, cancer is NOT one disease. It is a condition with the common symptom of uncontrolled cell growth. Each set of genetic mutations and the cell type involved is defines a different disease. Therefore, one treatment will not work for all cancers. Name one genetic disease we have a "cure" for. I'll give you a hint. there are none because we don't have an effective way to manipulate the genome. Defective genes are the heart of cancer.
.My opinion? yes. Well, I'm not so sure about the government as I am about big drug business. There is so much money to be made from the treatment, there is no financial motivation to find a cure. I have a suspicion that the researchers hands are tied.

Do you think the TB patient was poisoned?

I believe that the TB patient (Speaker) was poisoned by his father-in-law. Keep in mind that TB is very rare to contract. It is equally rare to find a guy who specializes in the disease (like the TB patient's father-in-law). So now it seems very suspicious that a TB patient would have a father-in-law that works with the disease. Something is just not right. While in interviews the father-in-law might seem caring, looks and sound can be decieving. You have to imagine that there is some sort of investigation going on now, looking at just how the TB patient incurred this illness. My prediction is that the father-in-law is put on trial for getting the TB patient sick.
Answer:
Mookie is right, 1/3 of the world is infected with this disease, it's not rare in anyway. We see it all the time in the healthcare field and healthcare workers have to be tested for it every year. People often jumped to the conclusion that there HAS to be a connection between the father in law being a microbiologist. He's a microbiologist that specializes in TB AND other bacteria, there are quite a few of those people around, especially at any major teaching or research institutes. Furthermore, TB is extremely contagious, if I were a microbiologist that hates my son in law, I would not pick this to infect him with. Too risky for myself to carry it outside the labs and too risky for my daughter to be exposed to it from her husband. There are many other bugs out there that are better choices, if I know several of them after taking only a couple of classes in microbiology, a microbiologist will know many more.
You don't even need bacteria, can also expose him to cancer causing agents, who would suspect that? A microbiologist has to be smarter than that.
I guess anything is possible. Yes, TB is very hard to contract in this day and age. But, also in this day and age.people seem to be doing more and more despicable things to each other. Blinding your girlfriend with lye, having your wife shot, poisonings of husbands and wives.so you could be right. It just seems to me IF that is what happened, it wasn't too smart on the father-in-law's part. He had to know that he would be the first person investigated and he has access to all kinds of things. It's not like TB kills immediately.
Actually, TB is not that rare to contract- 1/3 of the modern world still has Tuberculosis. He was a world traveler - he was in 32 countries in the past 12 months. He had ample oppportunity to contract the disease. Further, the CDC has extensive protocols in place to prevent any bacteria from escaping the facility where the Father in Law worked.
He would have had a VERY difficult time smuggling out the strain, then risked his own life by exposing the son in law, and the lives of his daughter and grandson the infected Son in Law was to travel with for the wedding.I don't think your hypothesis holds water.
Occum's Razor says he got it while in somehwere like Cambodia last year. The link below says Southeast Asia is a hotbed for TB right now.
I'd chalk it up and say since he is a world traveler he got it this way but with the old father in law at the TB lab of all labs with the CDC it's much to comfortable to rule this avenue out most.
Especially since his "baby" got married.
stranger things in life are true, than in fiction. I have heard..
One does not always know the truth, speculations abound.. Jury's don't always hear all of the facts, and weigh the manipulated version to a verdict. If truths be told, we ought not really need attorney's either..
what often seems so evident, is sometimes further from truth ..
like a movie being produced, we are taken in by what the imagination of a writer to see , hear and know what is expected, not till the end conclusion curtains fall..

Do you think that's still MIGRAINE if you don't have ALL of the symptoms?

What do you think? One sided headache with a throbbing pain that lasts about three days or more (the first being the most painful). A very localized pain that sometimes connects with the neck and eye. It gets worse with movement and efforts. No nausea, no vomiting, no photophobia, no phonophobia. I already went to the doc, an on duty doctor, he told me it's possibly a migraine. He said I should see my family doctor to keep track of it and have a more accurate diagnose. He told me that I might be asked to keep a diary about the headaches.
Answer:
There is a new development in migraine therapy:
http://www.neurologyreviews.com/feb04/nr...
Not all people experience all of the symptoms of a migrane. See if certian foods or activities trigger it, and stay away from the things that trigger it
This is correct information that your doctor gave you.most migraines are triggered by something in your life. Usually stress...keep track of your daily activities and when you have these headaches. Everyone does not get nausea and vomiting or light sensitivity.
go see your doc just incase it is something more then you think.. it sound like a migraine, but it could be just an ordinary headache also..
have you had your sleep lately or are missing some or maybe you are getting to much...
what about stress? are you stressing alot lately... just beware and keep notes if you can.. best of luck
It is possible that you're still experiencing a migraine, even without all of the symptoms. I do not get nausea and vomiting from mine either.Migraines are kinda tricky for an on-call doctor to diagnose, because they do not know you. Your doctor will have a more complete history. And yes, a headache diary is ALWAYS helpful when trying to diagnose headaches (not just migraines). For example, I have three different headaches, migraines, tension, and sinus...and actually they are all very similar in where the pain is located. My migraine was actually diagnosed first after keeping a headache diary (I was told to start before my Neurology consult) for about 2 weeks, keeping track of onset, first symptoms, duration, any alleviating or aggravating factors, any foods that are known triggers (caffeine, wine, and hormones are a couple of my old triggers). next, I was diagnosed a few years later with symptoms I thought was a migraine, but with one additional...the pain radiated back around to my head and neck sending me to the emergency room thinking I had meningitis...and was diagnosed as tension...they put a heating pad on the back of my head and neck while we waited for blood tests. The last is my sinus headaches, which are ALSO behind my eyes, but they only occur when I've got real serious seasonal allergies, a cold/flu, or sinus infection and tend to be alleviated only with decongestants/antibiotics.Your personal doctor will be able to diagnose you a lot better than a doctor from an urgent center or ER...because they know you.
Migraines are tricky. You don't always have the same symptoms. Chances are that if you have one once, you'll get them again, sorry. Keep track of your symptoms and explain the problem to your chiropractor. They are the ones to give you most relief and get it at the souce. Until you get there, try heat on your neck followed by gentle neck excercises (sides, forward and back 10 sec. ea.) will give you some relief. (best in the evening when you're most warmed up). Good luck and take it easy. I hope this helps!

Do you think that type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes should be named differently?

I am a Type 1 Diabetic. i think that Type 1 should be called type 1 pancreatic disorder or something. Because with Type 2 diabetes, it's preventable. It's the person's fault. No offense and I'm not meaning to be harmful just making a point, but Type 2 Diabetics are FAT!! It's their fault that they have it. Type 1 Diabetics cannot prevent it from happening, it just happens.
Answer:
woah...first of all, the 2nd answerer to your question is WAY off. diabetes insipidus is COMPLETELY different than diabetes mellitusdiabetes insipidus occurs when the kidneys are unable to conserve water as they perform their function of filtering blood. this form is uncommon thoughdiabetes mellitus comes in 3 main forms...type 1, type 2 and gestational.back to your question: not all type 2's are fat..thin people can be diagnosed with type 2..its just more likely to be diagnosed in overweight people.. and YES (**shakes head up and down uncontrollably**) type 1 and type 2 should have different names. i say get rid of the word 'type' and the 1 and 2 cause you could also call type2 'type2 pancreatic disorder' cause both types have to do with the pancreas. type 1 could be called dead pancreas disorder or something cause thats what type 1's basically have...a dead pancreas...i dont know what to call type 2 cause their pancreases still produce a little insulin
I'm sorry but you are misinformed. Not all type 2 diabetics are fat. Some have a hereditary tendency which causes them to develop it later in life. They can often control it with diet but sometimes require drugs too. I know because it runs in the females in my family and we are all skinny
They both do have different names. Type I is Juvenile diabetes or Diabetes insipidus and type II is Diabetes Mellitus and there you have (NIDDM) non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and (IDDM) Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.Dr. Ali, DC
My best friend is diabetic. She is type 2. She is not fat and she got diabetes because her blood cells attaced her! So watch you mouth!
not all type 2 diabetes are fat. my mum has it and isnt that fat. and no it shouldnt be renamed beacause ppl will freak out if they are told they have a "pancreatic cancer" ..thats only because ppl are freaking stupid
Wow, I hope that Dr. Ali is not a real doctor. He's really got it wrong.I totally agree with you that they should be called something different.BUT, as others have said, Type 2 diabetes is not always due to obesity. As you do not want to be judged, do not judge others!
There are 2 diabetes
1) Diabetes insipidus - caused by not enough ADH
2) Diabetes Mellitus - caused by not enough insulin
Within this group are 2 main types based on cause
Type 1 - Absolute insulin deficiency
Type 2 - Relative deficiency Some of these are the persons fault. If these lose weight, diet and excercise, they can be controlled without drugs. Most are not the persons fault. This does run in families. Even so, they may still not need drugs. In the end, the main problem is the same - high glucose in the blood. Type 1 and Type 2 are just a way of denoting the pathophysiology of the disease. For renaming, no one ever said names had to make perfect sense in medicine. Just ask a medical student trying to learn all this stuff.

Do you think that science will ever find a way to reverse hearing/vision loss or correct blindness?

Answer:
I sincerely hope so. I have poor hearing due to having tubes in my ears when I was younger, and my poor eyesight is genetic.
They already can with some forms of hearing and vision loss. I believe that there will be ways to restore sight and hearing to many other people. I'm don't think that there will ever be a time when there are no blind or deaf people but it will be extremely rare in the future.
Well im going to let you in on a little secret. Its called nano technology. You might have heard of it, but what exactly is it?the word nano means 1 billionth of a metre, which is very, very small.Nano technology is the development of small machines of lastly mentioned size, which is so small that they can rearrange the atomic structure of a molecule! So when looking to the future important nerve endings and cells in the eyes and ears will be mapped and those tiny machines will be programmed to repair them from scratch! For more info search nano technology on wikipedia.

Do you think that fewer people are using bird feeders and putting up birdhouses because they worry about...?

getting the bird flu in case it reaches the USA?
Answer:
I don't think so. You need to be in direct contact with the infected bird, so unless you're hand feeding your sparrows, then I don't think there's any risk involved in having a bird feeder.
I dont know, mabey, most likely, I would'nt want bird flu.
not for mexicans, they miss having chickens running free around their houses so they need a substitute.
i didnt let my wife put out bird stuff i dont want them around . death by bird not for me.

Do you think terrorists have pets?

Answer:
They all have Gerbils.
Duhh, they are people too. What in the heck made you come up with that?? lol, just wondering
if they do they wouldnt have them for long the kill them tooooooooo
Yes, they do. The #1 pet among terrorists and drug dealers are mules. That is where the term comes from where a person or animal has drugs or explosives surgically implanted in their bodies for late disposition. Actually, I don't know how accurate this is, but it kinda makes sense, doesn't it?
Yeah I don't think that they have pets they would probably starve them or something.

Do you think some one with allergies to cats would be allergic to ferrets?

I was told ferrets were feline! then I was told bey my teacher they were in the canine family!! so I dont know! is anyone allergic to cats and not ferrets?
Answer:
ferrets arent canine or feline...in terms of genuses
cats = felis
dogs = canis
ferrets = mustelaits possible for someone to be allergic to cats and ferrets, but it would be completely unrelated, like if someone was allergic to cats and peanuts.
I dont know, but really it's the pet dander that causes the prob and last I knew ferrets had alot of dander so I guess it's possible
i don't know maby look it up on the internet or ask your doctor
Cats have a dander on their fur that bothers some peoples allergies. I have honestly never heard of that being the case with ferrets.
ferrets are mustelids - same family as weasels %26 whatnot. they're not cats! but u should probably check b4 getting a ferret or something... idk if it differs from one person to the next, but i'm allergic to cats %26 not ferrets...
I am allergic to cats and ferrets bother me almost as bad!
I had ferrettes before.
There somewhat from the weasel family, But acts like a Kitten till death, mine did.
You can take to vet to De Scent them %26 there Strong Smell isnt bad then, also Baths are nice for them to, some likes to swim in a bathtub, there fun/ Exciting to watch, %26 BUT not for Everyone %26 not FOR LITTLE KIDS, Cus They need lotts of attention, %26 need to be let out of cage alot, mine didnt know what a Cage was, Unless i was mopping Floors, Other than that, I had to be carefull to, %26 not walk on it, But there loads of fun %26 make very lovable pets, if you have PATIENCE, %26 there just like a 2 year old kid, they get into cubboards, anything, But I love them
I'm allergic to cats and I'm not bothered by ferrets, except for the cedar shavings that some have in their cages. Just last weekend I went in an watched the ferrets in the pet shop play around and I didn't have hives or anything and this weekend a petted a cat and well it took a lot of allergy medications to get me to stop itching a lot, but I'm still itching with hives a little bit... but ferrets don't bother me one bit.

Do you think Pharmaceutical companies are really interested in CURING cancer?

Instead of TREATING cancer?
Answer:
Honestly, No, I don't think they want a cure. I am a young BC survivor that has to have a monthly shot and daily pill for at least 5 years after finishing chemo. If I did not have insurance that would cost me around $500 per month, my pills cost $221 for 30, thats over $7 per pill. if they 'cured' me then all that money that my insurance company is paying would not hit their pockets
I don't think so. If they cured cancer how would they make money after they cured everyone? I mean Pharmaceutical companies are still business at heart, they want to make money.
If someone offered every company 10 billion dollars to cure cancer- there would be one tomorrow. There is too much money to be made in pushing cancer meds- which by the way average about 1500-3500 a month for a patient and that's not including the chemo.so do the math, do you REALLY think they couldn't have cured it already?
Yes, I'm sure they are. Can you imagine if you were the first drug company to actually cure cancer? Of course they want to be the first. It would be the greatest breakthrough - ever - for any pharmaceutical company. Everyone has been touched or will be touched by this disease, so I can't imagine any company not wanting to be first in finding a cure.
if they had a cure, they would go out of business - like a cold.. aspirin, cough medicine, etc etc would crumble.. dont expect a cure to come out anytime soon
In this particular day and age of dishonesty being the predominant feature of business and government I think it is very possible that the pharmaceutical companies are solely out for gain and are only treating cancer instead of looking for a cure.
Maybe if someone like Bill Gates got cancer scientists would find a cure but it would probably only be for the type that he would get.
No the companies are making way too much money on just the treatment of cancer maybe indiviual Pharmacist cause that would be a great acheivement but the companies couldn't care less even if they do it would have a high price on it. that would still force people to go the kemo instead of the cure which probably be a last resort type thing
No way. I believe that all pharmaceutical companies are in it strictly for the money and if they invented something that cured a disease, then they would lose money because people would get well.
Yes they are, and it isn't going to put them out of business, but it isn't jsut pharmacutical companies that will have a cure, it will be a lot. However, so you cure it, more people will get it, so the demand will be their, unless you can make a vaccine, which is impossible based on the types of cancer.Howerver, did pharmaceuticals NOT make a vaccine for smallpox? the flu? Even ChickenPox? Even though a cure is made or if somehow a vaccine is developed, you STILL have demand, remember, got tons of new fresh people popping up every day...As far as the $10-billion to whoever makes a cure, no, that won't do it. However, yes, we could have a cure for cancer and aids tomorrow, but our society can't handle it. You need everyone to get together to do it, and most of our society won't nor will they do it without pay. Eliminate money and set goals for everyone, and we won't only have cures, we will be on mars next year. maybe even some even cooler stuff. It all comes down to money that is holding back the research and development. Time for a society change where people don't think only about themselves. Enemy #1 was the creation of money...We need a society where "everyone" works together for free on one goal, and it goes down the line per the project. The only thing they do is charge insane amounts of money, like $300 a month for a bottle of seizure pills, and that is with insurance..
Are people really that cynical? The amount of money that would be made from a CURE for the common cold, let alone cancer, would be worth a mint.I'm not trying to be a greedy capitalist, but think of what the company could/would charge. Treatments would be subsidized by the governments. Patients would flock to clinics to be CURED! And, to top it off, new patients would still be out there. A cure for even one type of cancer would be huge! The issue is that you can't cure something that mutates as fast as cancer. Different cells are targeted by cancers, and mutate in numerous different directions. That's why the chemo used for one cancer doesn't necessarily treat another.
This is one of the top ten myths about cancer. It's an urban legend. However you are missing a key ingredient . . it isn't just the pharmacy companies that don't want a cure . . its all companies that sell health products, vitamins, holistic 'cures', health clinics, . . all of them that are against cures . . because if they found a cure for cancer they would go out of business too. Discovey: Cancer Myth # 9"Cancer Myth 9: There is currently a cure for cancer, but the medical industry won't tell the public about it because they make too much money treating cancer patients.
Respondents Who Agreed: 28 percentOrigin of Myth: Urban LegendReality: One overarching fact that clearly disputes this conspiracy theory is that doctors and laboratory scientists along with their families die of cancer at the same rate as everyone else in the United States. There is one exception, though. Health-care professionals and biomedical researchers are less likely to develop and/or die of lung, larynx, esophageal and other tobacco-related cancers because they are more aware of the dangers of tobacco and are less likely to smoke than the rest of the population. And why would anyone hide a cure for cancer? Medical breakthroughs of all kinds are quickly announced and applied ?as the world has seen with antibiotics and vaccines, such as the polio vaccine. Also, finding one all-encompassing cure for cancer is unlikely. Cancer comes in many different forms, and for several of them, there are already cures available for the majority of patients.Only a few decades ago, less than one in 10 children with leukemia survived 10 years after diagnosis. With modern chemotherapy, the cure rate for these children is almost 80 percent. Examples of similar progress include Hodgkin's lymphoma, bone and kidney cancers in children, and testicular cancer.Fewer than half of all people with cancer in the United States actually die of the disease ?and many who are not "cured" of cancer still go on living for years with relatively few changes in their lives, thanks to years of research, which has produced many advances in the fight against many of the different types of the disease. But to suggest that there currently exists an all-encompassing cure for cancer that doctors are aware of is quite inaccurate."http://health.discovery.com/centers/canc...

Do you think people with contagious ,antibotic resistant tuberculosis be allowed in public?

what if one of these disease ridden individuals infected you or your family members, would you care about their civil rights then? just wondering cause the aclu is fighting for the rights of someone who has been jailed ,cause he knew he had this disease and still went shopping in public without a mask.hello,if the cdc knows you are contagious, so do you! he claims he didn't understand the severity, yeah right! what happens when he forgets next time?this dude needs to be deported back to Russia , to join his family,or stay in jail, well that's my harsh opinion, what's yours?
Answer:
If you think you're tough, take a listen to me..anyone with an infectious disease, and has no regard for the health of others, definitely should be charged with attempted murder at the very least. What about the folks who have full blown aids, knows it, uses no protection, nor do they tell their partner? off with his...! or put a permanent plug in it. whichever fits. i guess I'm just a tiny bit more harsh, eh? And believe it or not, I'm a bleeding heart liberal! hah!
yes if u don't agree wear a mask when u walk in the public
no they should be quarantined
i would think they people with diseases should be able to go out in public. as long as they have the right things that they need so they want be spreading the germs to anyone else. such as a mask or gloves or whatever it is that they need.
I think you may have your facts mixed up, the only person the CDC has had jailed since 1963 is the guy who was told not to travel and flew to Europe. He was contacted in Europe and told that his strain was especially dangerous and he needed to turn himself into the local infectious control and that he couldn't fly on commercial airlines. He then decided to fly back via Canada to get around the restriction. The CDC was then left with the task of tracking down everyone in the surrounding seats on the international flight he took and getting them tested. If ever someone earned a forcible quarantine this guy did.
That man doesn't have active Tuberculosis, which means that he is not contagious and never has been. People can carry the disease, but unless they have it active(fever and cough), then they might not even know they have it. He found out while being checked for something else. I think that people with active tuberculosis should be quarantined, but if you're not a threat to anyone, would you want to be basically jailed and your family lose the income your provide for who knows how long?

Do you think my spondylolysis is nearly healed?

Ok I'm 16 years old and I was having back problems during basketball season and I went and got a cat scan and they found out that I have spondylolysis.i was diagnosed in the middle of March and I 've been wearing a back brace since then...ocassionally i feel a slight ache here and there but i feel its gettin better...i get another catscan in about 4 weeks...i've already started ab tightening exercises in physical therapy.but yea..do you think my spine is nearly healed becuase i really want to get back to playin basketball and gettin trainin for football.its been so hard havin to watch everyone else play.
Answer:
NO it is too soon. Absolutely NO exercise.
You are doing the right thing, back brace and exercise. Now you will have to wait for the Cat Scan, but if the inflammation has subsided, congratulations and I expect they just might let you start back at basketball. However WAIT for the Cat Scan, do not do anything silly, stupid, just wait because it might be worth it in the end.

Do you think my guy cheated?

So weve been together for over 4 years, and he just found out that he has genital warts. hes the only guy ive ever been with and ive never cheated on him...he on the other hand has had other partners before me, and has been living in germany for the past 2 years (without me). I have no signs or symptoms of this std, but im sure i probably have now though...what should I do?? I know it could be from years ago and everything...but how do i know that i can trust him? just really needed to get this off my cheat, thanks
Answer:
Dude, HPV has the ability to lie dormant for YEARS. There is no way to tell if he cheated or not. And yes, you almost certainly have it too. Not everyone has symptoms. Some people's immune systems can just control it better than others, that's all.You should really do some research on the topic. I know you're freaked out now, but it's really not that bad. Also, you should be more worried about the kind of HPV that causes cervical cancer. Be sure to get regular pap smears just in case. Check this out too:http://www.healthandhpv.com/
Sorry to say but there's no way to tell...they can show for years after infection, or he could have had them and neither of you noticed. This is extremely common for males.
2 years?? of course he cheated
IF HES BEEN WITH ALOT OF WOMEN THEN WHY DID U SLEEP WITH HIM KNOWING THAT? YOU LIKE SLOPPY LEFTOVERS? HOPEFULLY NEXT TIME BE MORE PICKY
he could be telling the truth ,my husband was told he had them 2 weeks after i met him he had them removed and was told they could return at anytime thoughout his life ,also dont panick just yet i slept with him loads of times whilst he had them (unknowing!) and i didnt get them so you may not either.
you must trust him if you,ve stayed together 2 years whilsts hes been away. if the warts are your only concern that he has been cheating then you need to find other proof ,trust your instincts .
you cant tell but id say yea he cheated. us guys are dogs and its hard to keep it in our pants even when the girl lives in our city. i dont cheat but the desire for something new is always there... but it may just be me. but there are alot of prostitutes and easy women in germany
well if he is cheating on you he ins't good enough for you
And hopefully he isn't cheating on you

Do you think it is time that we order our health insurance companies to pay for tests that can save our lives?

like PET scans that detect where cancer goes? Apparently even if you have insurance, you can't use it even if we want to because your insurance won't pay for a test if it is inpatient or for some other reason. If I pay for insurance, shouldn't I get a full ticket to recovery?
Answer:
HI. I feel sorry about your medicare.I dont live in the USA but we are close allies.I live in a country where i receive free medical protection. This sounds good in theory but the cost is rather high to the taxpayer. We have long lineups and could take 2 months to see specialalist.Just swipe my card and Im in the system, that cost is 1000$ at emergency. They evaluate you and put on "priority"I allways thought that visiting hospitals was good for the immune system since your exposed to every bug present. To get back to topic:Many of us use your medical system for fster service. Our medical status is good but only to a certain point.Blue cross, green cross gives you more service. In your country a change like this would meet heavy resistance from insurance companies.I believe this will happen in your country as well, just matter of time. What you could push for is full coverage at a lwer price or perhaps, geared to income. This would be advantages to all Americans as you are"equall"in your constitution,at least in theory.
Your health insurance company is trying to get the most bang for the buck in terms of monies it receives from policy holders and monies it pays out for all immunizations, medical tests, x-rays, scans, procedures, office visits, hospitalizations, etc.A PET scan costs from $3000 to $6000 dollars. That's a huge chunk of money for the benefit of a single patient (which is not necessarily wrong, of course). Used to detect the spread of cancer, it's very probably something which would need to be repeated periodically. The insurance company has very probably studied the statistics for whether the benefits gained from such tests justify its expense--and their not paying for hundreds or thousands of other health services for their policyholders. One PET scan for Patient X, or 600 pap smears, or 1,000 immunizations? Are you entitled to any and every test because you carry health insurance? No. If you were, the premiums for all of us would be so high only the wealthy could afford it. Are you entitled to petition your insurer to cover a test they have previously refused to cover, with data to suggest its cost is worthwhile and could save a life? Sure.Best of luck. Be well.

Do you think I have Mono?

Well, first I had an extremely high fever. This was followed by a stuffy nose and sore throat, thought the sore throat wasn't too bad; not, like, strep level or anything. I had a horrible cough, though.
Then I got the runny nose, still with the cough.Everything was going okay after that, but now I tired ALL the time. I sleep about fifteen hours a day. I can't stay awake during class and even fall asleep when I'm walking.I think I may have it; one of my friends from school was diagnosed with it and I shared her lip gloss all the time.My parents say I don't and won't take me to the doctor. Can I get a second opinion?
Answer:
It sounds like you do to me, my brother had it last year from drinking the same water during football as the other players.
mono is the name of my frisbee
Go to the school nurse, she can probanly tell.If not then go hang all over your parents till they get it too, cause mono is very catchy!its airborn...Good luck.
Hi, personally I don't think you have Mono. I've had that myself years ago and was very ill with it although the degree of it can affect people differently. Why don't you go to a walk in clinic, you will have to have your health card though to do this. Mono can be spread just like a cold, somebody sneezes or doesn't wash there hands and then you touch something they've touched and then you touch you eyes or mouth. It is a myth that it is only caused by kissing.

Do You think I have acanthosis Nigricans?

I went to the doctors about 5 months ago with a condition I've had since I was about 12.
I get brown scarring below my breasts under my arms and around my neck.
I went to the docs who told me I had Pitriasis Versicolor and suggested selsun I must admit I only tried it about three times but I got impatient and now they say I've got Acanthosis Nigricans.
BUT I'm not extremely over weight and my insulin level is normal.
And when the affected area is wet if I scratch it lots of dead skin comes off.
And my breasts have very flakey skin almost like severe dandruff I think this Is Pitryaisis versicolor not Acanthosis Nigrican what do u think??
Answer:
diabetes is just one of the causes of Acanthosis Nigrican.
You doctor may have diagnosed you with this because he thought the selsun didnt work on the Pityriasis. Did you tell your doctor you didn't use it as was fully recommended? If he assumed you used it correctly and to the entire length of time, it may look to him like your symptoms didnt respond to treatment.Of course i don't know your medical history so i can't say for sure what you have. If you really feel that the diagnosis is wrong, you should tell your doctor and ask for an alternative treatment for Pityriasis, as i have read that there are several treatment options. From my reading and your descriptions it sounds as if you are describing the pityriasis Versicolor, which is basically a complex yeast infection of the skin. Pressure your doctor to pursue another treatment, possibly read up on the treatments of it and mention a treatment you would like to try. Don't be afraid of being persistent with your doctor. The doctor's goals are to get patients in and out as fast as possible and this may make them overlook certain details.Best wishes
Questions: Does it itch? How old are you? And is the surface of this scarring rough like a carpet? If it itches, it could be Pitiriasis versicolor, a dermatomycosis. If it spreads, this also speaks in favour of this. But if you have it for a long time, and if it is rough on the surface, then it could also be acanthosis nigricans. However, this disease is very often a "side effect" of cancer. So, if you are not old, have it long and don't have any other symptoms, then it is probably not acanthosis nigricans.
