Sounds to me like acid reflux. (GERD) You can clear this up fast by buying a bottle of MAALOX and taking a few chugs. Then stay away from acidic or greasy food. For longer term protection, you might consider getting a prescription but those pills are expensive. You can also buy 12hr relief pills

Very likely you have a hiatal hernia...a looping of the esophagus above the diaphragm. Try any of the OTC antacids...Gelusil, Amphojel, even Tums may help. the looping allows gastric acid to accumulate and causes the burning pain. There are several prescription medications availalbe but try the simple ones first.an exact diagnosis will require a barium swallow or an endoscopic exam...both are a bit expensive. Usually the problem can be treated but in a few cases, it might require surgery.
